Installation issue with a new Video card, Nvidia GTX650

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I'm facing some issues with my new video card.

I used to have an old NVidia 8400GS 512MB graphics card, and I've installed without any problem my Niresh 10.10.1 distro. Recently I bought a NVidia GTX650 graphics card, tried to reinstall Niresh, but nothing: I just pass the first screen where it's prompted which device to boot, and after a few seconds I get a kernel panic error, type=0 divide error.

I googled, and tried various boot args, even these:

-x -v GraphicsEnabler=No dart=0 PCIRootUID=1

My PC specs are in my signature.

Can anybody help me? I've only changed my video card, I did not expect that everything would crash...

Thanks!

If you want to do it with clean install, it was included in the customize section under graphic.

there will be option to backup kext, choose to backup the intel graphic.

if you want to do it manualy, you can log into your hack after instal with flag -v -x, it should make you logged in safe mode if the installation had no errors.

then you go to /Volume/"Your Maveric Installation Drive"/System/Library/Extensions

create new folder, call it "backup" and start cutting (copy-delete)

-AppleIntelGMA*

-AppleIntelHD*

-AppleIntelSNB*

-AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer*

after you clean those kext from Extensions, use the kext wizard to repair permissions and rebuild kernel cache

reboot (without -x)
