AMD R9 280x tri-x by Sapphire on Yosemite

Recommended Posts

I have this graphics card : http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1227&lid=1&pid=2072

This graphics card is a dog when it comes to running games on Windows.

I had been able to run it on OSX 10.9.0 as well OOB with no kext editing or anything. The ID was in the kexts and everything went smoothly with full graphics. It did not work with 10.9.5 or 10.10.1 no matter what I did. I edited the DSDT and used kexts from Deekay for 10.9.5 and I could not enable it.

The problem is that it boots up to the grey screen and then I can see nothing but the mouse pointer and the spinning wheel. Judging from the smoothliness and the resolution, it is running on 1080p. I boot only with GE=No, as I did with 10.9.0.

After a little bit of research I found out that AMD quietly changed the framebuffer on some 280x models. Maybe I have one of those. Could you please help?
