OS X Yosemite Installer doesn't boot AMD FX CPU

Recommended Posts

I have:

1. AMD FX 8350 CPU at stock speed CPU

2. Gigabyte GA990FXA-UD3 Revision 4 motherboard with the F3i Beta UEFI/BIOS update

3. EVGA GeForce GTX 660 3Gb Graphics Card (I'm using the DVI-D Connector)

4. 1 2TB Seagate HDD and 1 160WD HDD (I want to install OS X on this one)

I have the OS X Yosemite Zone distro on my 8Gb flash drive.

My computer can boot to the screen where I'm asked to type in boot flags.

Since I have an AMD FX CPU, I type -amdfx -v

However, after pressing "return", it starts loading a BUNCH  of files, but then it restarts my computer.

I've tried -f -v, etc.. but none actually boot the system.

I remember, when this used to be Niresh, I installed a Niresh Distro, that mostly worked, but I don't remember which one it was.

Any help?

first of all, yosemite 10.10.1 doesn't have /amdfx boot option, so i suppose you are on 10.10.

first question: did you read any installation guide?

second: did you set anything in bios?

third: did you try to boot with arguments npci=0x2000 PCIRootUID=1?

My specs are this:

AMDfx 8350

ASrock 990fx EXTREME 4

16GB Ram Corsair Vengeance

Zotac Nvidia GeeForce 660 ti 2GB

and lot of hd....

Currently I'm on Yosemite 10.10.1 and it works.... it was not so easy to do it, but is possible :)

Answer to your first question:

yes I did read a guide: http://tinyurl.com/lbenq52 which was Guide 2 of this link: http://tinyurl.com/khhal3e

I followed practically all that I could up to step 4. I do have an old iMac G4, but I wouldn't want to try to restore the .dmg file on it because it has USB 1.1 ports which are extremely slow, unless I absolutely have to.

Answer to your second question:

What I changed in the UEFI was what was mentioned in the first link I gave. The person who wrote the guide had an Intel CPU, and a Gigabyte motherboard, so some options weren't there.

Answer to your third question:

I tried the boot arguments you told me, but they didn't work either. It would load some files, and then restart. I also tried them with -amdfx -v, etc.. and it kept restarting.

    • I get this message no matter what I do, I've tried changing my SMBIOS to a newer model to no avail. Anyone no how to get the second install boot to work?
    • This is my first time doing Hackintosh. I've several other machines running Mac using UniBeast and Multi beast. I wanted to try Hackintosh Vanilla. So far, no luck. I followed the Guide and MacPwn Mojave Guide.
    • Hello! I wanted to install MacOS High Sierra, but the SSD does not appear in Disk Manager. I have a Samsung Pro 840 250GB. Is there a Driver for Intel Gigabit 82579LM Network LAN for MacOS High Sierra?
    • This is my very first post and have looked around the forums to my question but I wasn't able to find the exact specifics that I need. This is my very first windows/mac dual boot project. I chose to attempt high sierra and I hope I am posting in the correct area. High Sierra seemed to be the newest that is possibly more stable than Mojave so I chose that. I'm reaching out to the more advanced builders and experienced people. I'm currently running Win 10 as of now and bought a separate SSD to install a macOS on. Before I invest time and energy into this. I'm wanting to get the best recommendations on what OS I should choose , if my hardware will be up for the task and my best plan of attack. I'll be honest I'm not ready to bang my head on the keyboard for hours. I've been there and done that.  My hardware was some of the best at its time in 2011 and I'm not 100% confident it will work with a more up to date macOS I'm also concerned about drivers for my GPU.  All input is welcomed   Here are my current specs:   CPU
          Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.40GHz    28 °C
