Bill Sherlock Hedges

your hackintosh is being configured

Question

Hi,

I've successfully installed Mavericks on my AMD machine (have had a fully working setup on this same machine before) however have run into a new problem on boot.

When I boot the machine it runs the usual "your hackintosh is being configured" pop up. After a few minutes it completely locks up and doesn't respond until I perform performance hard reset.

My specs:

AMD Phenom II x4

6GB RAM

NVIDIA GTX560 Ti

NVIDIA GT520

Asus M5A99X evo

As I say I've had Mavericks running smoothly on this setup before - so not sure why I'm getting this problem this time around.

Anyone got any ideas?

Can't even think of any log files to check. Are there any?

Okay so I don't think it's related to the configuration as it has managed to configure successfully now but still freezes after a few minutes of use. I suspect it's a temperature problem?

Can anyone help with advice on what to check?

It's definitely my GTX560 Ti that's causing the issue - I have removed it and the machine hasn't locked up for at least 10 minutes.

Can anyone help fix this problem?

I have tried the freezefix.app - but to no avail.

Not so sure it's the graphics card now as it has frozen with just my other card too now. Really don't know where to look for this.

I used a different USB as my installation media and it worked fine.

Don't know if it was the USB or the ISO - supose this could help anyone else in the same boat.

@chrissoz I ended up downloading the DMG again and used a different USB stick. Not sure what fixed it (the DMG or the USB) but try either or both :)

    • Has anyone managed to run the atheros 9485 run on Mojave? I even managed to make him recognize, but he can not find any network.
    • Hello everyone  I have installed High Sierra and updated to 10.13.6 before installing nVidea web drivers. After everything was installed (Kexts and the driver) everything booted fine. Graphics worked perfectly. My onboard USB did not work but I have some generic NEC USB 2.0 card that works fine. After a reboot later in the day, I had a weird kernel panic. It spit out strings no longer than 30 charters and then proceeded to reboot. I have not seen this type of panic . This happened when using the onboard USB 3.0 controller but was fixed by removing the device. But now I'm not sure what caused this. I have reinstalled about 15 times already. Here are my specs: ASUS B150 Plus D3 Intel Pentium G4400 ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1050 2GB WD Blue 500GB HDD 8GB Ram Some generic wireless card (That works) Thanks -T
