USB Memory Stick Won't Boot

Recommended Posts

Successfully created USB Boot disk on Lexar 16Gb USB memory stick but when this device is selected to boot, screen goes black, spinning wheel (black & white lines) commences in top left corner of screen but immediately stops with cursor flashing underneath, and the computer hangs there. ASUS M5A97 R2.0 m/board, AMD FX-8350 processor. OS X Mavericks 10.9 installed from same USB stick with no problems and works flawlessly.

Thanks for the replies. I can now get the boot process started but it halts and restarts my computer when it gets to the place shown in the attached image. Suggestions please?

Well since you have AMD FX, try to boot with "-v /amdfx" or "-v /amd(32 or 64 depending on your PC, try them all)" without quotes.
