ATI Radeon Sapphire HD4870 no 3D acceleration

Recommended Posts

Hello, my Hackintosh is up and running thanks to Niresh 10.8.2 distro, also updated to 10.8.4 using an combo update from apple.com and everything is really working great, except 3D acceleration. I'm booting with GraphicsEnabler=Yes.

Does anyone have any experience on what drivers I should use?

Additional info is that i can play Minecraft with good fps, but when i try games like Garrys Mod or HoN it just does not work, no 3D objects are loaded in-game.

I've installed 10.9 using niresh. And I'm facing graphics, sound and usb wifi issues.

I've got Asus M4A87TD/USB3 motherboard, Sapphire HD 4830 gpu and AMD Athlon II X3 cpu.

Could you please guide me through what you have done to be able to use your system with the graphics.

Hello @nartcan, sorry for the late answer. I've been very busy the last couple of weeks.

I've upgraded my Radeon HD4870 and replaced it with a R9 270X card.

I solved the 3D acceleration problems by reinstalling my computer.

When it comes to installing hackintosh it's usually (in my experience) the kernel that is causing problems. But if you're certain that your graphics is causing problems I would recommend checking if you need GraphicsEnabler or not. Usually HD cards like mine (also R-Series) does. If you want help I will need you to be more specific and include things like: Bootflags, kernel, specs on your PC, errors et.c. A good tip is including your computer specifications in your signature like i have.

I'm not sure about the cause of the problem actually. But I can open the os 10.9 which I installed via niresh if I use GraphicsEnabler=No, so I think the problem is graphics.

You can see full config of my PC, thanks for your help.

    • I don't think the ten series work yet on Mojave, I have a Ryzen with a GTX 1050 and I'm staying in High Sierra for now.

I have tried High Sierra and Sierra with no good luck. I had it installed once before but the issue was I couldn't boot into it, of course, lol.   Now I can't seem to get the installer to boot, but can get to the bootloader to enter flags. I've tried npci=0x2000  nv_disable=1 -v -f -x which ends up just crashing the thing and it says it's exiting.    I'm really trying to get this to work, I'm sick of Windows always having updates and dumb issues. My timezone won't even work right lol What?    Please let me know what other info you need so I can get this loaded!   PS: Tonymac banned me for discussing "illegal distributions" or using one or some crap like that... was a member for like 5 years. Really crappy of them. Not sure what they're even talking about. No warnings or anything. I think because I mentioned another site they got pissed lol
    • I now see that my wifi adapter doesn't work as it's Intel.  I purchased USB-AC53 Nano which works, but handoff, even with functioning Bluetooth and wifi doesn't work.  Suggestions?
    • @Niresh is there any work around for graphics for the gt1030 on dell optiplex 760?
    • @Niresh - my apologies for the delay.  I didn't see this until now.  I've made quite a bit of headway and am up and running except for my wifi from what I can tell.  Is this something you can help with?  As to the specs:   https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/servicetag/6bx4y52/configuration   Thanks so much!
