Mavericks stuck at "Repairing Permissions"

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I installed the Niresh distro in my VirtualBox. Everything seems to go OK during the installation but after booting I got the notification "OS X Installer: Repairing Permissions" time and time again.

My host is a Samsung series 9 with Win 7.

Any idea?

I have just to have more patience and wait for it to finish! So please, can a moderator delete this topic?

New to Mac after so many years -- but always been a Unix guru.

What's Nirash Repairing permission doing?   It did this again after the 2nd boot -- perhaps relating to Mac not supporting ACPI software shutdown via VirtualBox thus it was hung and uncleanly shutdown.

By the way, do you usually need to install develop tools with root?  Specifically, I am looking to install Homebrew via Ruby, then Nodejs via Homebrew.

On Linux, when you install nodejs initially and globally for all users, you do it in root.  Then, local per project modules can be installed via npm as regular users.
