Triple boot: Ubuntu 12.04, Niresh, Windows 8.1

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,
I want to write something about having a triple boot.

I had Ubuntu 12.04(32 bits) and Windows 8.1 (64 bits).
With Ubuntu I had Grub to select the SO to boot.

Then I installed niresh mavericks with the bootloader (default installation config) and I said goodbye to Grub-->1º problem
Throught niresh boot, I could start niresh and windows, but not ubuntu.
Then, I started with Ubuntu Live and I had to install the grub on the partition of the disk.
With Grub again, I can init Ubuntu and Windows, but no niresh.
To solve the problem, you have to modify the grub.cfg manually and search the entry of niresh and change with something like this:
menuentry "Mac OS X 10.9.3 (on /dev/sda3)" --class osx --class darwin --class os {
   insmod hfsplus
   set root='(hd0,3)'
   multiboot /boot
}

hdX is the disk and 3 is the partition. (I think, I have to see my guide in Ubuntu and update this post, sorry)

In Grub, you select Mac OS X 10.9.3 and then you'll see the boot of niresh and you can select niresh =)

With this you can have a triple boot.

I hope this would be usefull for you.

I have the same question.

the grub can detect the mac os's existence by "grub-update" cmd.

but I can't boot the mac os by select item in grub menu.

I think we still neet some tools such as Chameleon to do some help.

can some one give advice?
