Intel HD 2500 graphics with celeron processors

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting full graphics acceleration working with intel HD 2500 graphics on a celeron processor. Researching the internet has revealed significant numbers of good results with ivy bridge processors from the pricier lines, but it seems as though very few people, or nobody, are trying to get it working for celerons. This would enable very small, very inexpensive hackintosh builds, like the one I'm working on. I have full resolution, but no acceleration, if booting without the intel hd4000 kext, and everyone else who's attempted it seems suck there as well.

First, Intel Celeron/ Pentium based on the Ivy Bridge micro- architecture has an Intel HD Graphics not HD2500.

Second, the differences between these two GPUs are quite insignificant.

Graphics support for HD2500 comes on 10.8.3 and above.

Without core graphics implementation like 10.7.5/ 10.8- 10.8.2 you are able to make a regular boot of your OS X, because no kexts are loaded. Of course, no QE/CI is enabled.

Chimera /IGPEnabler/ and Chameleon /GraphicsEnabler/ gave me the same result when trying to enable HD Graphics on 10.8.3 and above- half colored screen with lots of artifacts. Absolutely the same as HD2500.

G1610 is a very impressive middle- class processor and if in the nearest future its GPU starts working it would be very nice.

As far as I know the clock frequency and caches are the only difference, my system sees them as 2500, though I get the same glitch when booting without -x. Unless i trash the hd4000 kext, which lets it boot with no acceleration.

It seems like such a trivial difference to lose acceleration, I'm hoping someone can tweak a kext to get it running.

    • Sierra installed without any issue, but cannot get GT620 to work. Installed Cuda and Webdriver and boots without issues, but home screen wallpaper disappears and screen becomes black. Is this card supported on Sierra?
    • I get this message no matter what I do, I've tried changing my SMBIOS to a newer model to no avail. Anyone no how to get the second install boot to work?
    • This is my first time doing Hackintosh. I've several other machines running Mac using UniBeast and Multi beast. I wanted to try Hackintosh Vanilla. So far, no luck. I followed the Guide and MacPwn Mojave Guide.
    • Hello! I wanted to install MacOS High Sierra, but the SSD does not appear in Disk Manager. I have a Samsung Pro 840 250GB. Is there a Driver for Intel Gigabit 82579LM Network LAN for MacOS High Sierra?
    • This is my very first post and have looked around the forums to my question but I wasn't able to find the exact specifics that I need. This is my very first windows/mac dual boot project. I chose to attempt high sierra and I hope I am posting in the correct area. High Sierra seemed to be the newest that is possibly more stable than Mojave so I chose that. I'm reaching out to the more advanced builders and experienced people. I'm currently running Win 10 as of now and bought a separate SSD to install a macOS on. Before I invest time and energy into this. I'm wanting to get the best recommendations on what OS I should choose , if my hardware will be up for the task and my best plan of attack. I'll be honest I'm not ready to bang my head on the keyboard for hours. I've been there and done that.  My hardware was some of the best at its time in 2011 and I'm not 100% confident it will work with a more up to date macOS I'm also concerned about drivers for my GPU.  All input is welcomed   Here are my current specs:   CPU
