Niresh caused USB to become read-only

Recommended Posts

Hello! Not too long ago, I got a Niresh High Sierra dmg from this site, and using dmg2img, I converted it to an img file.

After installing and booting into my linux partition to format it, I seem to have a slight problem.

The drive became read only!

It shouldn't be a hardware fault, as this drive was working.

I used dd to write the image to the usb, and that worked fine. After the install, I can't use any disk utility on it.

fdisk reports:

fdisk: cannot open /dev/sdb: Read-only file system

same with cfdisk.

fsck cant do anything, it whines its a ro disk.

hdparm -r0 /dev/sdb reports:

 setting readonly to 0 (off)
 readonly      =  0 (off)

and after this, fdisk and cfdisk still cant do anything.

Any recommendations on what to do?
