OS X fails to boot for the first time after successful installation

Recommended Posts

A few days ago I started a process to install OS X Mavericks into my HP Compaq dx2450 microtower (my, that rolls off the tongue). The computer, despite having an AMD processor, is capable of booting OS X (at least from the installation media) with little apparent issues, apart from having no PS/2 compatibility.

However, I have two issues that arise after installation is completed: neither Chamaleon nor Clover (for BIOS) seem to work, but it is because my WD hard drive does use the 4K allocation method, but it isn't a big deal as I have a boot USB drive anyway.

The other one is that, even after booting with my USB bootloader, OS X fails to continue to boot. Verbose logs show that it gets stuck in "Still waiting for root device".

I haven't been able to get past it in the 4 reinstallation attempts I've done. I've used the "ahcidisk=1 debug=8" boot flag to no avail.

These are all the boot flags I have used so far:

cpus=1 ahcidisk=1 debug=8 GraphicsEnabler=No npci=0x2000 UseKernelCache=No -v -x -f

(I did enable the AppleNforceATA kext/fix during installation, if that helps.)

And here are the specs of the machine

CPU: AMD Athlon x2 x64 5200B Dual-core @ 2.7GHz

Motherboard/Chipset: Nvidia nForce 430

GPU: Chipset-Integrated Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE (128 MB VRAM)

Audio: Realtek ALC888s

Network: Ethernet port fried so it doesn't matter.

Memory:  2 GB DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-6400) @ 800Mhz

Storage: 500 GB WD SATA HDD @ 7200 rpm and NCQ

Attached is a capture of the verbose up until the error.

Thanks in advance.
