  5. Trying to fix a hackintosh, belonging to friends of my wife's, which won't boot. Most times it doesn't so much as load the OS, a few times it has however even then it hangs later. I'm a software engineer and have built my own PCs (but not a hackintosh) and recognize the various messages. BIOS -> OS, etc. Built on a gigabyte GA-EP45T-DS3R (circa 2012 I believe) running Mac OSX 10.8. I used another Mac laptop they own to make a Recovery disk on a USB stick. Different versions of OSX but my hope is that the recovery disk built from the newer version on the laptop will still repair the older hackintosh. Put the USB into one of the ports on the back and power on. F12 to select a boot device. There are various USB items and I select USB-HDD. As it continues, a message appears saying "Lexar USB storage device" (that doesn't come up normally) - the stick is indeed a Lexar and so I assume the stick has been recognized. However the messages get down to "Verifying DMI Pool Data ..." (which I've seen many times so far) and won't get past there. I assume at that point, if it finds a valid OS on the stick, it should boot from it - but it's not. Any help appreciated - Pat
  6. Hello! After building my first ever Hackintosh I've run into an issue (to be expected). I have succesfuly installed Mac OS Sierra Zone onto a 3 TB Hard Drive and all was booting properly after a simple Multibeast configuration. Unfortunately, my Graphics Card was showing up as a 7mb card and brought with it some graphical issues and no way to use Graphic Card intensive software (Final Cut, Logic Pro, etc). So, I installed the NVIDIA WebDriver and changed the System Paramaters in Clover Configurator to enable Nvidia Web Drivers as well and.. now the system wont boot. The loading line under the apple sign makes it a little over halfway and then goes to a black screen, indefinitely. BUT, you CAN boot it in safe mode or just with nv_disable=1. So, I tried to change system parameters in PlistEditPro and came back to the same result. Can anybody help me get this running with my graphics card? I also dont have any audio coming from the Hackintosh either. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! BUILD: Gigabyte H170n Motherboard --- Nvidia 750ti 2GB -- 16 GB Crucial Ram DDR3 -- Intel I5 6500 MY CLOVER CONFIG FILE: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3rEcYqrTLdnRjVCSjRrd1ZBMGM
  7. Specs: Intel I5 6600k Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 8GB DDR4 Memory (I don't think this matters) Corsair 650W PSU 256GB m.2 SSD Problem: So currently what I've done is installed Sierra with the Hackintosh.Zone sierra distro. After the install I turned off the PC removed the Flash Drive I used for the install and proceeded to turn the PC back on to be greeted by the Clover Boot Menu. Selected my boot device and all booted swell (with no extra boot args or anything). I noticed my graphics weren't working 100% correctly because my ultra wide monitor was only running at 1920x1080. There were also small glitches in the screen when I was logging in or using the launchpad. I also have a second monitor connected and it's being mirrored but when I check the display settings it seems to not show up. Because of this I used multibeast and ticked the 'Intel Graphics Fixup' and 'Inject HD 5XX' options. After selecting install with those settings ticked, multibeast returned a error when trying to install. I tried again but also selecting the UEFI Quick Start Boot Mode and everything installed correctly it seems. After rebooting and expecting everything to work correctly; I got stuck on boot at this screen: https://imgur.com/a/rBFgu I've played with the boot settings and found that I can successfully boot with these options ticked: Safe Mode, and USB Ownership. But the graphics are still messed up, can anyone help me? I'm thinking it's something in my BIOS but i'm not sure. Thanks if anyone can help! Update: I reinstalled and unchecked 'Backup Graphics Kexts' when installing. I can boot without any extra arguments but my graphics drivers or kexts are still not working correctly (not sure of the terminology). I'm getting 1080p but the computer isn't detecting the 2 monitors plugged in as 2 separate monitors but rather just duplicating the display on both monitors. Also one of my monitors is an ultrawide if anyone needs this information (2560x1080). Im also having trouble finding the EFI partition, there is a folder named 'EFI' on the main system drive but i'm pretty sure that's not it, am I right?
  8. Hi there, today I was managed to install Yosemite 10.10.5 on an old PC which I bought extremely cheap from a friend, these are : - Core 2 Duo E8400 @3GHz - Gigabyte GA P35-DS3R v1.0 - Samsung 4x1GB DDR2 PC6400 SDRAM - NVIDIA Geforce 9800GT 512MB ( unknown Chinese model ) - 500GB WD Green SATA - LG DVDRW - An ultra high end 10 years old 15" Samsung LCD with 1024x768 res at 75Hz... fully pure of joy :| things for installation : - I'm using transmac from my windows 10 to create Yosemite Zone 10.10.1 usb installer - BIOS setup was : AHCI enabled, USB as first boot device, virtualization off, HPET on @64bit, ACPI on - bootflags with -v at first installation after setup complete - Multibeast 7.41 for first installation - I use this custom DSDT = 1166-dsdt-gigabyte-ga-p35-ds3r-f13-rev1.aml - select Audio 1 - kext dev mode and PCIRoot checked -> reboot - upon restart write GraphicsEnable=Yes and PCIRootUID=1 but i think it wasn't mandatory - download OSX Yosemite 10.10.5 combo update from apple store and slam it - on reboot write flags -f -x first, it will be one helluva slower boot - use Multibeast 7.50 afterwards, same options as before with 7.41 -> reboot - don't forget these flags: GraphicsEnable=Yes and PCIRootUID=1 - download and install Nvidia WebDriver 346.02.03f01 and CUDA driver 6.5.51 reboot - choose NVIDIA as the default graphics, reboot - setting the Audio MIDI setup and sound over system preferences, mine came out a little bit low on volume, so i installed Boom to boost it up. as for now everything is working just fine as it should, no apps and hardware are having trouble at all.

  12. OSX compatibility with Laptops - will it (most likely) work on these? Hi everyone, I'd like to buy a new laptop, but I'm not satisfied by the performance/price ratio offered by Apple. I do not need a great machine, but I'd like a medium performance for a price that isn't way too high (around 1000€, max. 1400-1500€). However I really love OSX... and that's why I'm asking here. By the way, I really don't know much about hardware. So some of the machines I'm considering are the following: Lenovo Ideapad Y700 Gigabyte P55W v5 Asus Rog GL552VW-DH71 Alienware 17 (first/second ones from the left) Alienware 13 (999.99$ one, which is the second from the left) Thank you very much! If you need more information or anything, just let me know. feflop
  13. Need a full noob step-by-step guide to installing yosemite on my PC so here's my current setup: CPU: Core i5 4460 [ 4th generation (haswell) ] http://ark.intel.com/products/80817/Intel-Core-i5-4460-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_40-GHz Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P81-D3 [ socket 1150 - H81 Express Chipset ] http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5268#ov RAM: 8 GB DDR3 (single piece) [Kingston HyperX 1600MHz] http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-FURY-1600MHz-DDR3/dp/B00J8E92M6 Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT-520 http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-520/specifications HDD: Western Digital Blue 1 TB Wireless: TP-Link TL-WN751ND http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/cat-11_TL-WN751ND.html well here's the problem: I booted up the niresh 10.9 (without any boot flags) and everything went well except for the last minute of installation it suddenly said: Installation Failed ! reboot leaves a corrupt partition with no data on it. tried to repeat it with the same results. so I tried with 10.10.1 hackintosh zone version. the same except the final error was related to "GraphicsEnabler" so i rebooted with GraphicsEnabler=No and everything went fine until it gave me the same "Installation Failed" without giving me any cause. so I rebooted it and chose the OSX installation partition, and to my surprise it was there... installed and running. even though it said "Installation Failed" however, while trying to install the kext for my Wireless Card, It went well, but once I typed my WiFi password and clicked "connect" everything FROZE. so I hard-reset it. and i wouldn't boot up again giving me some fatal errors in the boot screen. so... how do I get a "Installed Successfully" in the first place ??? Please Help.

AMD FX-8350 - Working With Yosemite

AMD FX-8350 Working With Yosemite So, I've managed to get OS X Yosemite installed on the following hardware: • AMD FX-8350 (4.0GHz) • Gigabyte 78MLT-USB3 (Micro ATX Motherboard) • 8GB Kingston 1333MHz Memory • Seagate 1TB (OS X Drive) • Western Digital 500GB (Windows Drive) • Powercolor AMD Radeon 7770 (Gigahertz edition) To install this, I used the Yosemite Zone dmg, and burnt it onto a USB stick using Win32DiskImager. I installed as an upgrade from Mavericks, while using some extra boot flags, and everything is working fine. The only thing that I have an issue with is the AMD Cool n' Quiet feature. This doesn't seem to be functional, and the CPU overheats very easily if under load (with a low-end cooler) if I enable more than one core of the cpu (cpus=8.) Below, I have a video showing exactly what hardware I am using, and an overview of specs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0WFXdiGhhg

    Succes on i3 4170

Hi guys! First, sorry for my english. I wanna tell you my experience on build my Hackintosh with the following specs: Niresh OS X Mavericks 10.9.0 (you can find it in "Downloads") Processor: Intel i3 4170 3.7Ghz LGA 1150 Mother: Gigabyte H81M-H rev 2.1 RAM: 8GB DDR3 Kingston Hyper X 1866Mhz GPU: MSI Geforce GT610 1GB DDR3 DISK DRIVES: Kingston Hyper X 120GB SSD + Seagate 500gb HDD This config goes like a charm. I only need to install two kext's, for Audio and ethernet. For Audio I use the ALC887 - Currently that comes with Multibeast, and for ethernet I use the Realtek RTL8111 kext. That's it! Everything works fine until now that I am writing this. System boot correctly without USB. Thank you for your time, and, I am here for what you wanna ask me. Bye!

I edited the default Niresh Mavericks AMD7000Controller.kext, AMDRadeonX4000.kext. Install them with Kext Utility. You will need to install AppleHDA for ALC to get HDMI Audio working (seems like all ALC codecs work for this, Multibeast 6.4.1 has this, just choose one). Edit your DSDT and insert the text from the injection file. You'll have to use IORegistryExplorer to locate where GFX0@0 or display@0 is. Look at the device just above it in the hierarchy (mine was PCE2@2). Find that (PCE2 for example) in the DSDT and insert the text before the last bracket for that device. You will also need to add the DTGP method at the top (Google this if you don't know). You may have to change the device you found just above your graphics device to PEGP (Find/Replace All in DSDT). I did this originally and have not undone it to test if you need it. The injection file uses framebuffer Aji. I edited that framebuffer specifically for this card. The same edit is applied to Hamachi and Futomaki. Any of those should work the same (I was chasing my tail at one point and ended up editing all three of those). I have this working right now with GV-R785OC-1GD. Please disregard the resolution shown in System Information. I have a DLP TV, it's hard to see from way back here. 1080p works fine for me, just too small from the couch. If you are having Audio distortion, open terminal and type "yes > /dev/null" without quotes and hit enter. This is a cheap workaround for AMD systems, I've heard disabling AMD TURBO in BIOS may solve this as well. Good Luck!
  21. Hey Guys! I've "successfully" installed Mavericks onto a Toshiba DT01ABA300 3TB HDD. After the installation, I try to boot into the Hard Drive and I get stuck at "Verifying DMI Pool Data" I know this is an issue specifically with Gigabyte Mobos and most likely a BIOS setting somewhere is causing it, but I can't figure it out. It could also be possible that I didn't partition correctly. I just erased the entire drive itsself and formatted it as a Mac drive (Journaled). Is that ok? I also tried booting into the HDD from the Niresh USB, but it doesn't recognize that it's there. Things I've tried: Resetting CMOS and BIOS multiple times Different SATA ports and different cables Different power supply configurations to give the HDD more power than before I tried putting the boot USB in different ports, as if that would help anything Disconnecting all other HDDs and USB devices Specs: Gigabyte AM3+ Motherboard (Not sure about the specific Model number) AMD FX-4100 Radeon r9 270x (I know this isn't the issue after extensive research) 8G of Kingston RAM
  22. Hello, I am a newbie to hackintoshes, I have successfully set one up before but this was when I had a non-amd/ati build.
