  1. [Guide] How to dual-boot Windows with OSX on a HP Pavilion DM4-1250ca (also preserves Windows data) This may work for other earlier DM4 laptops that have Arrandale 1st generation i3/i5/i7 CPUs too, that have graphical glitches upon entering the OSX installer. Working: * QE/CI (accelerated) Graphics * Sound * Microphone * USB ports * Ethernet * VGA * DVD Drive * Internal temperature monitors Not working: * Battery display * HDMI * SD card port Might work: * Mini PCI-E Wi-fi card (lost mine) Hardware requirements: * 8 GB USB Thumb drive or higher for the OSX Distro * 1 GB USB Thumb drive for MultiBeast * USB Mouse (only for part of setup) * USB Keyboard (same) * Ethernet connection Software requirements: Windows: * TransMac * ParagonHFS * MacPwn-generated distro of El Capitan * Files to make the distro MBR-installable (link in guide) * Working config.plist (link in guide) Mac: * Kext Wizard * Multibeast * Intel HD Graphics QE/CI drivers (link in guide) * Laptop keyboard / touchpad drivers (link in guide) * VoodooHDA 2.8.8 Now for the guide. 1. Go to the BIOS Advanced menu by pressing F10 and A at the same time repeatedly when you see the HP logo. The timing window for this is pretty small. From there, go to Advanced > Chipset Configuration, and disable VT-d. 2. In Windows, make sure there is enough free room to install OSX (at least 40GB.) 3. Get into an admin mode command prompt (for Win 10, right click the window icon and choose Command Prompt (Admin). 4. Type diskpart, then list disk, and then "select disk #", where 0 is the hard drive you want to install OSX on. 5. Type "list partition", and take note of the number. Then, type "create partition primary size=x id=af", where "size=x" is the size in megabytes you want your drive to be. "id=af" sets the partition to HFS+, so the OSX installer can see it, and so it won't need the whole drive to install OSX. 6. Type "select partition #", where # is one more than the number you noted, type "active", then "exit". 7. Type diskmgmt.msc, right-click the partition you made and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths". Give it a drive letter for later. 8. Download the latest MultiBeast on a spare thumb drive. 9. Get a MacPwn-generated distro of El Capitan, like one named "El Pwn Version.dmg" 10. Burn it to a thumbdrive with TransMac, by right-clicking the thumb drive and choosing "Restore with Disk Image". 11. Once the image is burned, then load the thumb drive up in TransMac, go to System/Library/Extensions/ and rename AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext to AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.old (right click to rename.) This allows the installer to be visible without graphical glitches. 12. You'll have to replace the thumb drive's /EFI/Clover/config.plist with the one attached . 13. Google "El Capitan MBR Patch" and follow the first link to make OSX MBR bootable (involves replacing two files on the drive.) 14. Boot to the distro with boot argument cpus=1 -v, then plug in the mouse and keyboard. You should be able to install the OS. 15. Keep the USB drive in, and don't load the distro you have just installed, since as soon as you get to the desktop, the screen will glitch out. Time to boot back to Windows and rename some files with ParagonHFS to fix that. 16. Once you're in Windows, install ParagonHFS (TransMac doesn't work for this, file permission issues) and open your OSX partition (not your thumb drive partition), go to System/Library/Extensions/, delete AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext and AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext and you should be able to boot properly to OSX, from the thumb drive's bootloader. 17. During the OSX setup, at the "How Do You Connect?" screen, choose "My computer does not connect to the Internet", we'll set up access later. 18. In the OSX desktop, run MultiBeast go to Drivers > Network, and choose RealtekRTL8111 v2.0.0, Misc > FakeSMC v6.18, FakeSMC Plugins, FakeSMC HWMonitor, NullCPUPowerManagement, and Bootloaders > Clover Legacy bootloader, then choose Build. This will enable ethernet, some internal temperature monitors, and install the Clover bootloader. Now, before you reboot, change your OSX drive's /EFI/Clover/config.plist with my working one attached, and copy the kexts from your installer thumb drive's /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other/ folder into your OSX drive's empty /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other/folder. 19. Download Kext Wizard and the kext for your laptop keyboard/touchpad at (google OSX Voodoo PS2 Controller, first hit). Be sure to follow the directions on this page. May want to copy org.rehabman.voodoo.driver.Daemon.plist and VoodooPS2Daemon to your desktop, then type "cd Desktop" in Terminal, for the command that copies them to the right places. Also may want to enable tap-click from Launchpad > System Preferences > Trackpad. 20. Before updating the video drivers, grab the El Capitan 10.11.6 update from the App store, which will require a reboot and cause your OSX desktop to be a glitchy screen again. Boot to Windows, go to the OSX drive's System/Library/Extensions/ folder, and delete AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext, AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext, AppleIntelHDGraphicsGA.plugin, AppleIntelHDGraphicsGLDriver.bundle, and AppleIntelHDGraphicsVADriver.bundle, then boot back to OSX. 21. The proper, QE/CI-enabled video drivers can be found at (Google "1st generation intel hd graphics qe/ci", first hit). First, do a command-f search for Natit.zip, then grab that, then command-f search for "Watch", to be near the blue banner that reads "Enable Quartz Extreme with Core Image (QE/CI)". Scroll down a little further to "Intel HD Graphics QE/CI Download" link. Click through, download and open the 10.11.6 file. 22. Once open, move AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext, AppleIntelHDGraphicsGA.plugin, AppleIntelHDGraphicsGLDriver.bundle and AppleIntelHDGraphicsVADriver.bundle to the desktop. Then, in the open Intel HD Graphics QECI 10.11.6 folder, go to Select Framebuffer > SingleLink > Normal > LCD+VGA > LCD+VGA LW1, then move AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext to the desktop. Now open Natit.zip and put Natit.kext on the desktop. Install the six files with Kext Wizard. 23. You may want to turn off Display sleep in System Preferences > Energy Saver, since sleep is broken, the display turns on without a backlight. 24. For audio, install VoodooHDA 2.8.8. I couldn't install it through MultiBeast so I downloaded it separately, works fine. You should have a smooth video experience now. The setup can handle 60 FPS Youtube videos nicely, but detailed 3d graphics are a bit much for its 288 MB of VRAM. Sorry about the lack of links, there's a spam filter. config.plist

    El Capitan Won't Boot

El Capitan Won't Boot I recently made an El Capitan hackintosh with the following specs: Mobo: x99 USB3.1/PRO CPU: i7-5820K Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 When I initially installed it from a usb key, it booted and I could use the operating system. However, once I rebooted and attempt to boot from clover boot manager with the following boot args (darkware=0 npci=0x2000 nvda_drv=1 ), I just get errors and no boot. I've tried quite an extensive variation of boot args that were suggested but have still been unable to boot. Would really appreciate some advice, don't know where to go from here.
  7. Cannot load Clover; hangs at Scan Entries I was in Windows for a bit and decided to reboot after rolling back a touchpad driver, after that clover just hangs at Scan Entries. I cant get past it but I can boot into windows when I hit a key and get into the EFI menu (I think thats what that is called) and I select boot from file (this is through clover EFI menu on BIOS laptop) and select EFI and choose the windows efi from a folder within the EFI folder, it boots but then hangs as well, the hard drive will just stop seeking seconds after full boot, so I cant check clover from there, I tried to boot into mac os from there but I cant find its entry. I dont see it in the EFI partition and my other partition which has no label (must be my windows partition) will hang the EFI menu when I select it. I was only once able to get clover to load but that was after a full hard drive scan from BIOS which got cut off because my battery died (I forgot I didn't plug it in) and when clover loaded for whatever reason, my hackintosh partition didn't show up, but recovery was there, I booted into that and I opened disk utility to run first aid on the hackintosh partiton, but it wouldn't mount. So I then went into an Ubuntu DVD and tried to mount there and it said it couldnt due to a block error. I cannot understand why this is happening but it somehow completely compromised my ability to boot into any OS. I ran more Full Hard drive tests in BIOS and all tests pass (quick, full, SMART). I just cannot understand this. Please help, I don't want to reinstall El Capitan and everything else again. I have clover 4012 installed on an HP HDX16 1370US notebook Intel T7250 CPU (had to downgrade because I broke last CPU) 4 GB DDR2 800MHz ram Seagate hard drive 500GB I will provide more details upon request UPDATE: I was able to fix the error by removing my Hackintosh partition, Windows said it was corrupt and all tools I could access had no ability to fix it, so I had to reinstall. And somehow when I removed the Hackintosh partition, windows became unbootable with error inaccessible boot device. I am currently running scans to see if I can fix it without removing it as well. Last hard drive sector scan reported all sectors were OK. Yay technology...
  8. OSX Distro of El Capitan or Sierra Available I would love to get a download of a distro that has an installer with a GUI. Niresh's past Mavericks release worked for me, but I cannot get to a Vanilla Install of Sierra or El Capitan with bootflags. Thanks Much, Nick - I can make my email available as well.
  9. El capitan slow and glitchy graphics I installed el capitan using macpwn and installed it to my following pc. Dual core e2180, 6gb ram, zebronics g41 chipset mobo, seagate 250gb hdd. After installation everythings fast except the graphics. When i launch launchpad, you can see enormous lag and glitches or when i scroll down a page, balcj glitches appear. I had the same issue on niresh mavericks too. I had an old 210 and used it on mavericks. The system detected it but the glitch was still there. I jave not used 210 in elcapitan because it never worked with mavericks. Any ideas? BTW i did not install nvidia drivers on mavericks. Do we need to do that?
  10. El Capitan Installation Issue It would be grateful if anyone can help me out... The problem is I am trying to build a dual boot system between mac and windows. I already have a win 7 os installed and i have a seperate 1 tb hard drive to install mac on it. Now i tried to use transmac and create disk image of el capitan dmg file on usb (after formating the usb for mac). After completion as shown in many videos i went to restart my pc and pressed f8 for booting option and selected my usb drive but nothing happens it just boots normally with windows. After trying this couple of times i decided to use another software for this purpose that is bd utility. I created first partion of 200mb and formated it for clover and partion 2 with efs file (after extracting it from dmg file (image)). I tried to boot the system. Booting worked. then i got the option to select the booting option from the drives 1) hd legacy 1 2)hd legacy 2 3)clover 4)hd legacy 1 and 2 (repeats) 5)Hd legacy 3 Now selecting the drives return with no boot mgr found except 1 which will boot u normally to windows. Now my config: I m using Asus sabertooth z97 Mark 2 and my default options are already selected for AHCI mode. I have 24 gb ram i7 4th gen gtx 960 ddr5 Currently have 3 hard drives. 2 with windows and 1 completely blank jst for mac. Any help would be gratefull. Pls help.

  19. AMD R9 380 - Screen goes black - El Capitan Hi all, I am relatively new to Hackintoshes. I set up a PC with El Capitan a few months ago with an old ATI Radeon 5570 gpu. it worked fine. I have recently upgraded to a AMD R9 380 (my friend gave it to me). After installing the GPU it would show the apple logo when booting on the Mac drive. The loading bar would get about half way and then the screen would go blank and my monitors would say there was no input. I did some digging online and found some boot flags that might help. I tried a number of things but nothing worked. Attached is the last thing output in verbose mode before the screen went black . For this I had GraphicsEnabler=Yes PCIRootUID=1 -v -f I'm sure there is something I'm missing but I don't know what it could be. Here is my setup. CPU : Intel Core i7 860 GPU: AMD Radeon R9 380 OS: Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan 2 monitors: 1 via HDMI, 1 via DVI Using Clover Boot Loader Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am stuck using Windows on this machine for the time being. Thanks

Asus X53SJ update to El Cap

Asus X53SJ update to El Cap Hello everyone, could someone of you help me with my asus notebook? First my hardware: CPU: Intel i5 2410M 2.1 Ghz to 2.9Ghz GPU: Intel HD Graphics 3000 and nVidia GeForce GT520M 1GB MB: Asus X53SJ Chipset: Intel HM65 Express HDD: 160GB GUID OS: Yosemite 10.10.5 Second my problem: I installed Nireshs Yosemite Distro with Chameleon because Clover does not work for me and everything works fine but I want to upgrade to El Cap. My problem is when I start the update with a USB I need Clover or Chameleon Enoch. I tried to install Clover but then the system wont boot anymore. I also tried to install Enoch but the when I start the first message is something with boot0 (only 2 lines of about 2 or 3 words) and than the Chameleon v2.2svn r2286 comes up and I can start OS X. I "updated" the bootloader over the Chameleon Wizard and it worked but still the built-in loader starts the system and I'm unable to install El Cap Do someone know to help me? I tried with the USB Installer but with Clover the Installer wont start and with Enoch the USB wont be displayed. I dont know how to get this working. When someone of you need more information about my machine, just ask me Hopefully you can help me. Sincerly Darkfight14
